Train Wreck

Ted Haggard is founder and former pastor of the New Life Church and was leader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003 until November 2006.
In November 2006 he was removed from all leadership positions after allegations of a sex scandal involving a gay prostitute by the name of Mike Jones and using methamphetamine were substantiated, Haggard confessed to undisclosed sexual immorality and said he bought meth but didn’t use it.
Ted Haggard then underwent counseling sessions with a restoration team including Jack Hayford, Tommy Barnett and James Dobson.
Under such conditions it would be seemly that a person involved in such a fall from grace simply return to secular life and earn a living in an atmosphere that doesn’t require being held to a moral standard. As obvious as a correct course that this would seem to be, unfortunately such may not be the course of action that Ted Haggard may choose for himself. In other words Ted Haggard may be attempting a comeback resuming his vocational ministry, though not from as lofty a position as previous.
Ted Haggard’s attempt at reincarnation is taking the form of reinventing himself as a victim of sexual abuse; In November 2008, Haggard said in guest sermons at an Illinois church that his "sins" had roots in sexual abuse by an adult when he was seven years old. Haggard said one of his father's employees "had a sexual experience with me" when Haggard was 7. Hardly believable on the face of it, this sort of allegation is impossible to prove, unlike say the more common abuse at the hands of a family member. The attempt at reinvention continues; Haggard said church leaders missed an opportunity to use his scandal to "communicate the gospel worldwide through secular media."
"We consistently blow it" when those opportunities arise, he said.
"A congressman in trouble, that's the time. A family member gets himself in horrible trouble, that's the time. A preacher gets himself in awful trouble, that's the time," he said, his voice rising to a near-shout.
All I can say is train wreck, the blame for this falls squarely on the shoulders of Ted Haggard if he wants to return to the ministry like televangelist Jim Bakker then all you have to do is fall off the face of the earth and return to the ministry under someone’s tutelage, where the only people who have to listen to you are the people who want to listen to you and surprisingly there may be still a few Ted Haggard fans out there. It’s no use announcing a clarion call about your scandalous fall from grace expecting people to return you to your mantle of influence. If Ted Haggard was an ordinary person with no expectations this whole scandal would be a non-issue and it is in the secular world where Ted Haggard should have his reincarnation and not in the public, media driven world of the Christian ministry.
